Eliza Fitzgerald – Journal 3

Michael Andretti’s attitude towards Josie in chapter 6 is not friendly or accepting at all. He makes his feelings clear about Josie when he blatantly says ‘I don’t want her.’ (Page 65). Although he doesn’t care for Josephine, he offers to make her a fund which Christina denies. Josie overhears the conversation between Michael and her mother and confronts Michael afterwards. She makes it clear that she doesn’t want a father and that they should stay out of each other’s lives. As the book progresses however, Josie and Michael form a bond and they start to open up to each other and get to know each other better. Josie’s feelings towards her father change completely which can be seen on page 244, when she refers to him as Dad.
